VAG Coding Update

VAG Coding Update
Recently we have been receiving several queries regarding coding on certain VAG vehicles so i felt it appropriate to provide an update on the situation with the information we have. Volkswagen AG Group which includes the brands (Audi, VW, Skoda, Cupra and Seat) have incorporated a change into the wiring systems of its vehicles for the 2024 model year, and subsequently have locked some of the modules that are needed for coding many aftermarket parts including towbar wiring kits. Vehicle diagnostic specialists are aware of this and are working very hard to find a solution to the current situation. (NB This is not an issue with the wiring kit). An accurate list of vehicle models affected is currently un-known and not registration date specific. The information we have is that not all new vehicles are affected by this change, however we have been advised that if the chassis/VIN number has an `R` within, then these are likely to be affected and have the latest-generation control units which have been seen in vehicles as early as late summer 2023. While the issue with coding remains and to support the current situation ECS Uk will introducing a line of `Read only` kits that do not need coding, however, will only be functional for road lights and not have all the features that would be seen with the current `Read/Write` wiring kits. We will be notifying you of the new part numbers for the read only kits in the very near future. We hope that this is a temporary delay in coding access and normal service will resume at the earliest opportunity.
